“An idiot with a plan can beat a genius without a plan.” – Warren Buffet
PAIN – PRESSURE – TERMINATE – FOLLOW UP – FINISH.
- Stay Mindful: Always practice situational awareness. If a threat catches you off guard, you weren’t fully present. Your first goal is to anticipate and avoid danger.
- Attempt De-escalation: When possible, de-escalate the situation. Control your tone, posture, and words to reduce tension.
- If De-escalation Fails:
- Initiate the Attack: Strike first and decisively, targeting a vital point like the eyes to create immediate pain and disrupt the assailant’s focus.
- Apply Pressure: Use a straight blast to drive them off balance.
- Terminate: Follow with headbutts, knee strikes, and elbows.
- Seek an Escape: If alone, prioritize a swift exit. If with friends or family, you may need to neutralize the threat fully. This is where the powerful palm strikes, Western Boxing power punches, and other moves come out.
- Adapting to Resistance:
- Begin with Single Direct Attacks or Attack by Combination
- If your strikes don’t penetrate, transition to Trapping or Attack by Drawing—lure out their guard to open access to a vital point.
- You may also have to use Broken Rhythm
- If you still can’t penetrate, attack the painful spots on their extremities to force an opening.
- Once you break through, maintain momentum with a blast, followed by headbutt, knees, and elbows to incapacitate.
- If They Strike First:
- Intercept and Destroy: Intercept and destroy their attacks which inflicts pain and may even fracture their limb disabling it.
- Apply Pressure: Use a straight blast. Follow up with headbutts, knees, and elbows.
- Finalize or Escape: Escape if possible, or if necessary, continue until the threat is fully incapacitated to ensure the safety of yourself and those with you.
- If they tackle you and take you to the ground:
- Focus on creating pain and opportunities to escape.
- Many standing techniques can be adapted for ground fighting.
- Get back to your feet into a mobile position.
ADAPT, IMPROVISE, OVERCOME, SURVIVE.
All of the above must be executed instinctively, spontaneously, and with willful intent. The time for thinking is in the training hall, not in the heat of conflict.
