Combat Strategy

  • THE INVISIBLE REPETITIONS: HOW THE SPIRITUAL WARRIOR TRAINS BEYOND THE BODY

Once the spiritual warrior has tempered the body through hard weekly training, a deeper question arises—one that separates the brute from the strategist, the hobbyist from the adept:

How do you increase repetitions without destroying the vessel?

The body has limits. Tendons fray. Joints protest. The nervous system dulls under constant assault. To ignore this is not toughness—it is ignorance. The true warrior understands that strength is not forged by abuse alone, but by intelligent pressure applied across multiple planes of reality.

The answer is not more sweat.

    The answer is positive visualization.

This is not fantasy. This is not daydreaming. This is disciplined inner work that elite warriors and champions have quietly used for decades. Chuck Norris used it. Mike Stone, winner of 91 consecutive karate matches, used it. Olympic athletes use it. Special operators use it. Those who understand combat beyond muscle use it.

Science merely confirms what warriors already knew.

Visualization can stimulate 30% to over 50% of the gains of physical training, with documented strength increases up to 35%, and performance improvements that in some cases nearly mirror live practice. Why? Because the nervous system does not clearly distinguish between vividly imagined experience and real execution. The brain fires. The pathways strengthen. The warrior sharpens—without breaking the body.

This is training in the unseen dojo.

    The method is precise.

Sit down. Become still. Focus on the breath until the mind drops beneath surface noise and enters the subconscious state—the command center where fear, reflex, and instinct are rewritten. This is not relaxation; this is alert stillness.

    Now summon the adversary.

Not a friendly opponent. Not a cooperative partner. Imagine your worst nightmare—the largest, most aggressive monster you can conceive. The kind that triggers adrenaline instantly. The kind that would freeze an untrained mind.

    Do not flinch.

Now, step-by-step, execute strategy with absolute clarity. Apply pain with purpose. Apply pressure without hesitation. Terminate. Follow up decisively. Finish without doubt. See every movement. Feel the balance. Hear the breath. Sense dominance replacing threat.

Do not rush. Precision burns deeper than speed.

See yourself succeed. See yourself own the fight—calm, controlled, inevitable. The outcome is not in question. The mind accepts only victory. Then repeat. Again. And again. Each repetition etches authority into the nervous system.

This is not violence for ego.
    This is conditioning for survival.
    This is mastery without overtraining.

The spiritual warrior understands this truth: the body is trained in the gym, but the outcome is decided in the mind. Muscles execute, but consciousness commands. When visualization is combined with real-world training, the warrior becomes dangerous not because he is reckless—but because he is prepared.

And preparation, when forged correctly, feels like destiny.

    Train the body.
    Refine the mind.
    Condition the spirit.

    Some repetitions are invisible—
but they are the ones that win the fight.

  • Why SPORT MMA FAILS—and how RAT SYNTHESIS™ STREET MMA WINS.

“You can only fight the way you train.” Miyamoto Musashi, A Book of Five Rings

    Let’s get real.

The UFC and modern MMA are a spectacle. Entertaining? Absolutely. Effective? To a point. But if you think what happens in the cage reflects the savage, unpredictable, and dirty nature of real violence—you’ve bought into the modern classical mess Bruce Lee warned us about.

    Let’s break it down:

    Weight Classes. Rules. Referees.

You don’t get those on the street.

In the octagon, you’ve got timed rounds, doctors, tap-outs, padded gloves, and strict rules that ban the very tools that end real fights in seconds: groin strikes, eye jabs, throat shots, ear slaps, bites, claws, leg fractures, and stomps. That’s not a knock on the athletes—some are phenomenal. But it is a knock on the idea that MMA as a sport is the end-all-be-all of combat training.

    Street fighting is no-holds-barred.
And if you’re not training for that reality, you’re not ready.

Horrendous EYE POKES That Lead to Fight Stoppages

RAT Synthesis™: MMA for the Street, Not the Cage

(Inspired by Rapid Assault Tactics™ R.A.T.)

RAT Synthesis™ was born from battle and built for victory.
This isn’t theory. This isn’t art for art’s sake. This is a combat and mindset system forged from the raw truth of street altercations, military encounters, and years of refining what actually works under real pressure.

    👉 Rapid-fire low-line kicks to shatter knees.
👉 Eye jabs that disorient or disable.
👉 Ear slaps that rupture eardrums and shut down balance.
👉 Carotid stuns that drop attackers like a sack of bricks.
👉 Groin destruction that ends the fight before it starts.

This is not “tough guy talk.” These are surgical, ballistic tools you deploy when your life, your loved ones, or your mission is on the line.

“If You Can’t Beat a Trained Fighter With Rules, How Can You Without Rules?”

    This is a common misunderstanding.

In reality, removing the rules changes everything. It doesn’t level the playing field—it flips it entirely. The sport-trained fighter operates inside a framework. That framework conditions the fighter’s nervous system, instincts, and tactics. When those rules are stripped away, so is their operating system.

RAT Synthesis™ was built outside that system.

    This is chess, not checkers.

While some train to score points or win on the judge’s card, we train to cause pain, break structure, and end the encounter instantly.

💥 Eye jab before they even know the fight started.
💥 Elbow spike into a punch to fracture the attacking limb.
💥 Lead sidekick into the knee as they step forward—fight over before it began.
    💥 Intercept, destroy, terminate.

In RAT Synthesis™, defense isn’t passive. We don’t block—we break.
    We don’t wait—we intercept.
We don’t counter—we destroy and finish.

Our method relies on the pain–pressure–termination sequence:

    • Pain (via destructions, nerve shocks, or sensory disruption like eye jabs), This steals the initiative
    • Pressure (overwhelming, nonstop forward barrage using a STRAIGHT BLAST that turns them into a pedestrian—backpedaling, panicked, and off-balance),
    • Termination (decisive, brutal end using headbutts, knees, elbows). If this doesn’t seal the deal, we have more.

This is not theory. It’s not for points. It’s not sparring. It’s survival.

So yes, a highly trained MMA fighter may dominate inside a controlled ruleset—but when the rules are gone, so is their edge.

The way you train is the way you fight.

Another example: when two fighters are tangled on the ground, each scrambling for position with endless counters—why play that game? Instead of trading move for move, a direct attack to a vital target—like seizing the groin—ends the fight immediately. Why memorize a hundred counters when a few ruthless, well-placed moves let you dominate?

RAT Synthesis™ turns chaos into strategy. We operate in the shadows of the rulebook—where speed, ruthlessness, and targeting vital structures matter more than endurance, points, or submission games.

What’s even more dangerous than technique?
    Mindset.

The modern martial arts world is missing its heart—the warrior spirit. What gave the Zen Samurai their edge wasn’t just their sword. It was their mind. Calm under chaos. Focused. Fierce. Fully present. Stillness in motion. And killer instinct.

At RAT Synthesis™, we train that.
Through warrior meditation and strategic mental conditioning, we forge fighters who are as mentally sharp as they are physically deadly. Because when fear hits, when adrenaline spikes, when the chaos surges—you fall back on your training.

And if your training was built for sport, you lose.

    UFC = Entertainment.

    RAT Synthesis™ = Survival.

The modern MMA world may laugh now—but in a real violent encounter, they’ll wish they trained for what we train for.

    This isn’t a game.
This isn’t about belts or titles.
This is about walking away alive—every time.

Lastly, as you get older, you don’t have time to play and roll around. You need to end it quickly.

Learn the system that cuts through the noise.
Train in the art that ends fights in seconds, not rounds.
Forge the mindset that wins before the battle begins.

    The Bruce Lee Secret

Bruce Lee wasn’t just a movie icon — he was a nearly unbeatable street fighter in both the U.S. and Hong Kong, the heart of Chinese Kung Fu.

Legends like Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, Bolo Yeung, Jim Kelly, and Mike Stone (91 straight wins in full-contact karate) all recognized one thing: Bruce had a deadly edge that conventional martial arts never captured.
But the complete, real-world system of domination?
It was never released. Almost lost forever.
    Until now.

After decades of relentless study, brutal training, and real-world testing, Sifu Matt Russo has cracked the Bruce Lee code— and now it’s yours.

  • THE WARRIOR’S PATH: MUSHIN, MASTERY, AND THE WAY OF RAT SYNTHESIS™!

Had an interesting phone conversation tonight with someone curious about Mushin, my books, and the RAT Synthesis™ system. He asked me, “What is the path?”—referencing a Google review that said, “Stay on the path.”

The path is the way of the warrior—rooted in the tradition of the Japanese samurai, who blended Zen Buddhism and meditation to gain a decisive edge in both battle and life. I’ve studied Zen and Theravāda Buddhism myself, and later embraced the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda.

Yogananda’s teaching helped me decode the deeper spiritual essence of martial arts. The path also contains Dharma or the Truth in life which leads to the discovery of your Higher Self also known as self-realization.

That’s what my book on Mushin is all about—cultivating stillness within motion and becoming the ultimate warrior, both in the dojo and in everyday life. Life becomes a form of living Vipassanā, a meditative awareness that sharpens your edge. This is where the path of the samurai ultimately leads.

At RAT Synthesis, we train both meditation and warriorship—fusing internal mastery with practical combat skills to give you the edge in every area of life. We also teach strategic domination—how to outthink, outmaneuver, and overcome. I also discussed the RAT Synthesis simple, adaptable and complete game plan that allows you to end street fights in seconds, not rounds.

The caller also asked about my physical stats—I’m 5’8″ and weigh around 175 lbs. He was concerned I might be overweight. So here I share a photo of myself at 57—living proof that the system works.

I train just 2.5 times a week and maintain peak performance across my entire strategic system.

No gym memberships. No machines. No ellipticals. No jogging. No steroids needed.

Just scientific street fighting, fused with a proven, science-based training methodology.

Honestly, I could be in even better shape—but nearing 60, my focus isn’t on obsessing over appearance. It’s about maintaining peak functionality and real-world performance.

  • RESSURECTING THE BRUCE LEE STREET FIGHTING SYSTEM OF DOMINATION!

    Straight Blast

    It’s not necessarily original JKD.

    It’s not necessarily “new” JKD.

It’s not necessarily Kali and Silat.

    It’s not necessarily Muay Thai.

    It’s not necessarily Savate.

    THIS IS WHAT IT IS:

    • Pain–Pressure (Straight Blast)–Terminate.
    • Interception (defense)
    • Three Types of Fighters.
    • The Five Ways of Attack.

That’s what took me nearly 35+ years to truly understand.

That’s what you need to focus on.

To be able to end street fights in seconds.

    Simply.

    Like Bruce did.

Rapid Assault Tactics (RAT) gives you the defense and the body. It also adds destructions (defang the snake).

Joe Lewis had the 5 ways of attack and the 3 types of fighters. That’s the offense.

    Not sport.

Things like eye jabs and breaking their legs with low line kicks.

Especially the eye jab and the lead side kick.

Champions only focus on a few techniques.

    Not millions of techniques.

    Not necessarily “kickboxing.”

    Not necessarily strong-side forward.

    Not necessarily “move hand first.”

Not necessarily classical JKD techniques—yes, efficiency matters.

Not necessarily grinding yourself to exhaustion every day.

    Not necessarily 50 different arts.

These things help but they are not the differentiator.

    STRATEGY is the differentiator.

And simplicity. Again, not a million techniques, not a million arts.

    And efficient techniques and attributes.

And the ability to pass through the door of insanity when the rubber hits the road and execute. Killer instinct.

    There it is.

Thousands of dollars invested. Possibly more.

DVDs. VHS tapes. In-person seminars with the greats.

    Research, development, hard sparring.

    All boiled down.

Jeet Kune Do is simply to simplify – Bruce Lee

    Legends never die.

To my knowledge, this simple and comprehensive system of street fighting domination is not documented anywhere.

👉RATsynthesis.com Teaches the Bruce Lee Street Fighting System as its main strategy. We enhance this with kickboxing inspired by Mike Tyson and Denis Decker’s gung fu/Bagua. We also include the counter-ground fighting from Rapid Assault Tactics (RAT).

What Will You Do When There’s No Referee—Just Life or Death?

Live For Something Or Die For Nothing

Forget Rules. Forget Tradition. Forget Sport. This Is Real.

RAT Synthesis was forged by Sifu Matt Russo, a master martial artist, Raja yogi, and life strategist.
After studying dozens of systems and teaching for years, he saw the fatal flaws in most martial arts:

Too Many Rules – Real fights don’t follow a rulebook. There are no weight classes and referees.
Too Defensive – Waiting to react gives the attacker the upper hand.
Too Many Arts, Drills, and Fancy Moves – If you spread yourself thin you lose power. Complicated techniques collapse under real pressure. Kata and drills don’t guarantee real-world readiness. High kicks get you tackled in the street—not the dojo.
No Mental Preparation – Most systems ignore the psychological warfare of real violence.

So he built a new way—a synthesis of only what works when life is on the line.

    THE RAT SYNTHESIS™ FIGHTING SYSTEM.

Sifu (Teacher) Matt Russo’s evolutionary approach includes:

FOUNDATION: Bruce Lee’s street fighting system (60%)
Mike Tyson-style explosive kickboxing combos (20%)

Denis Decker’s devastating Kung Fu & Bagua (20%)

    Weapons Training: Kubotan.

    Samurai-Yogi MIND RANGE™ TRAINING (100%)

    • Bruce Lee perhaps the greatest martial artist of the current era.
    • Mike Tyson needs no introduction.
    • Denis Decker is known as a Kung Fu prodigy in traditional martial arts circles.
    • Weapons Mastery: Kubotan. Legal in New Jersey, USA. Compact. Non-lethal by design— but fully capable of delivering deadly force when the moment demands it.
    • Mind Range™. Warrior Mind. Strategic Power. Spiritual Force. The missing link in most martial, personal and professional development training today.

STRATEGIC DOMINANCE: The Art of Controlling and Conquering Any Opponent

STRATEGY IS A CRITICAL FACTOR—THIS IS MUSCLE CHESS.

Become a tactical genius in the chaos of combat. Sun Tzu is strategy. Clausewitz is strategy. Chess is strategy. Bruce Lee, Mike Tyson, and Denis Decker were all strategic geniuses. Yes, efficient techniques and attributes matter—but strategy matters more.

    RAT SYNTHESIS™ Core Combat Principles:

    • Street-Ready MMA, Not Sport: Brutal low-line kicks, eye jabs, ear slaps, groin shots—designed for survival, not points.
    • No Forms. No Fluff: Forget katas, chi sao, and patterned drills. Drills like Hubud build drill skill but not necessarily fight skill. We build real fight skills through adaptive, live-pressure training.
    • Relentless Domination: Offense is your best defense. Command and Control the fight before it starts.
    • Minimalist, Maximum Impact: Master just 40 lethal techniques across 4 combat ranges—no fluff, no wasted motion. Why get lost in hundreds of moves and endless counters… when a precision arsenalscientific street-fight strategy, and ruthless vital point targeting can end the chaos and own the fight in seconds—not rounds?
    • Mindset Meets Strategy: Integrated training for the body, mind, and battlefield.
    • Proven. Tactical. Efficient. Real-world tested. Science-based fitness. Strategic mastery over brute force.

    Simplicity = Focus = Power.

A simple system wastes nothing. You train smarter, faster, and still have energy for life.

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” – Bruce Lee

Our system is efficient. You get results with less time and less fluff. A lower maintenance system gives you freedom through mastery.

    🔒 Our Defense Is Offense:

We interceptdestroy, and simultaneous block-strike rather than block and then counter, combining defense and counterattack in one seamless motion

⚔️ Our Offense = Relentless Attack:

    • Direct Attack: Fast and straight.
    • Combinations: Rapid-fire hits.
    • Drawing: Bait and counter.
    • Immobilization: Trap and shut them down.
    • Broken Rhythm: Disrupt their timing.

On the street, 80% of offense is ABC (Attack by Combination) and trapping—because ranges collapse fast. There’s no time for feints or setups like in dojo or sport fighting.

But when distance is kept and bombs are exchanged, RAT Synthesis still has you covered. RAT Synthesis gives you all the tools and prepares you for any scenario.

    🧠 Our Formula:

    PAIN → PRESSURE → TERMINATE → FOLLOW-UP → FINISH

    We break down all fighters:

    • Jammers (aggressive)
    • Blockers (defensive)
    • Runners (evasive)

We take the lead, break their structure, and finish the fight fast.

    🚀 4-Tier Training System:

    • Tier 1 (Initiate): Core street tactics—learnable in 6 months. Includes the Bruce Lee Fighting System and street kickboxing. Also basic ground defense and kubotan fighting.
    • Tier 2 (Apprentice): We add advanced Ground defense, weapons, multiple attackers.
    • Tier 3 (Adept): We add advanced Gung Fu, Bagua, fajing (explosive internal power).
    • Tier 4 (Master): Self-Mastery and Freedom of Expression (non-physical training).

Training is real-time, hands-on, and strategic. Like chess, you don’t need to know every move—just how to win.

    HOW WE SPAR.

Your Sifu coaches you through fight drills and sparring, correcting timing, structure, and awareness. You’ll face a variety of live-action scenarios and evolving challenges designed to sharpen your adaptability and response under pressure.

Our “muscle chess” drills build true combat ability in dynamic, high-stakes situations—just like Bruce Lee used to train champion Joe Lewis.

When ready, students engage in tactical sparring—good guy vs. bad guy, not ego vs. ego—focusing on strategy, timing, and mission-based intent.

    We also train:

    • Cross-hands sparring to master trapping range and close-quarters sensitivity.
    • Motorcycle helmet fight drills from Rapid Assault Tactics™ for realistic chaos.
    • Weapons defense sparring to prepare for armed threats under pressure. Also kubotan sparring.
    • Counter-groundfighting drills, highly realistic and designed to simulate live ground combat with an emphasis on survival, escape, and rapid neutralization.
    • Mass attack sparring to train awareness, movement, and dominance against multiple attackers.

You don’t overpower—you outthink, outmove, and outstrike.

  • How to Fight Tai Chi Internal Power!

“Four ounces can move a thousand pounds.” – Tai Chi Saying

Tai Chi and other Chinese internal martial arts contain real, legitimate power—refined over centuries and rooted in deep principles of energy, structure, and strategy.

However, let’s be honest: many of the so-called “masters” being exposed and defeated by MMA fighters in China are not true representatives of these arts.

They are misusing the name and philosophy of internal martial arts without embodying the real skill, discipline, or combat-proven ability behind them.

In short—they are internal power impostors.

Their failures are not a reflection of Tai Chi itself, but of their own lack of authenticity and experience.

This Chinese tai chi master tried to fight a MMA fighter!

I’ve experienced true internal power firsthand.

    It’s real.

I can apply some of it myself, and we specifically teach these principles at Tier 3 in RAT Synthesis, drawing from the powerful Bagua system and Denis Decker’s gung fu.

So, how do you deal with a legitimate internal martial arts fighter?

    The answer is simple:

    Avoid close-range engagement.

Notice all these guys are crossing hands with them?

Don’t get trapped in cross-hands, sticky hands, or push-hands scenarios.

Instead, stay at long range and use low-line attacks—specifically, low kicks to break their legs and target the groin.

Disrupt their power base before they can channel their internal energy.

Their foundation is both mental and physical—their mind and their legs.

This is known in Jeet Kune Do as “fencing with the feet.”

It allows you to control the distance, dictate the pace, and neutralize their strengths.

    This is the ‘non-contact’ phase.

Once you’ve compromised their foundation and inflicted pain, then close the distance decisively.

Pain disrupts the mind and blocks their ability to focus or channel internal power
    (Unless they’re an advanced meditator).

If their hands and arms are still in the way, attack them using destructions like leopard fists and phoenix eye fists.

That will prevent you from having to go into a cross-arm position.

Once you penetrate, strike the eyes to disrupt their vision, immediately follow with relentless pressure—like a straight blast—to overwhelm them, then finish the job.

Alternatively, consider Mike Tyson’s brutal approach:

Use broken rhythm to set them up—throw off their timing—and deliver a devastating knockout punch.

This too is the ‘non-contact’ phase.

Broken Rhythm is one of the legendary Bruce Lee’s Five Ways of Attack, here analyzed and applied by martial arts icon Joe Lewis, Bruce Lee’s student and world champion.

We teach all Five Ways of Attack in the RAT Synthesis system—giving you the edge in any fight.

    The Mike Tyson entry

And here is Iron Mike using it in the ring.

He closes the gap using head movement and broken rhythm (non-contact) which sets them up and knocks them out.

    Right hook with head movement

    That was quick.

    Did you catch it?

But be warned—these strategies aren’t foolproof.

A true high-level internal martial arts master is in a league of their own.

At very high levels they can vibrate their chi through their legs, creating a shockwave effect that causes your kick to bounce off, repelled by their energy.

Worse, you could get hurt just by making contact.

Some can even withdraw their testicles, rendering groin strikes useless.

    Then what?

At that point, your best strategy may be to respectfully disengage—after all, wisdom is knowing when not to fight.

Then, take the time to study authentic Tai Chi for yourself—and when you’re ready, return to engage in push hands with them.

    The Reality Check

Internal power is real—but very few have truly mastered it.

Especially the ability to vibrate shock waves through their body repelling strikes and kicks sending your force boomeranging back into you.

    Or withdrawing testicles.

    That is even rarer.

That’s why, after just six months of serious training in RAT Synthesis—achieving Tier 1 level—you’ll be equipped to handle 80% of street fighters.

    • They’re not internal masters.
    • They’re not elite-level Silat fighters.
    • They’re not elite combat sport fighters with exceptional physical attributes.
    • They’re not seasoned warriors.

    Conclusion:

This post exposes the myth of fake Tai Chi “masters” while acknowledging the real power behind authentic internal martial arts. It offers practical strategies for dealing with legitimate internal fighters—avoiding close-range traps, using long-range low kicks, disrupting their base, and employing tactics like broken rhythm and eye jabs to dominate.

RAT Synthesis integrates these strategies along with advanced principles from Jeet Kune Do, Bagua, and Bruce Lee’s Five Ways of Attack. The key message: adapt, improvise, overcome—and always train smart to win.

  • THE ART OF WINNING: MASTERING COMBAT, STRATEGY, AND SUPREME EXCELLENCE IN THE PERSONAL ART OF WAR!

RAT Synthesis: The Art Of Real World Combat and Personal Development

“To fight and conquer in all battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting ( to avoid the fight or fight without struggle).”

    — Sun Tzu

True mastery is not found in endless repetition or rigid techniques—it is forged in the fire of strategy, adaptability, and pure combat intelligence. Inspired by the timeless wisdom of Sun Tzu, RAT Synthesis pushes warriors beyond form, into the realm of tactical supremacy. It is the art of seizing control, exploiting weakness, and striking with precision before the enemy even knows they’ve lost.

In the chaos of real-world combat, where unpredictability reigns and rules crumble, RAT Synthesis commands a relentless offense—preemptive strikes, absolute control, and victory with minimal effort and maximum devastation. This is not just fighting; this is warfare perfected.

    RIGHT FOCUS?

Are you practicing the basics? Doing forms, kata, drills, exercises, and polishing your technique?

But is that all you’re doing?

Or most of what you are doing?

A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.

    – George S. Patton

Are you mastering the chess pieces—the movements, the ranks and files of the board—without an opening strategy or a plan to win?

Do you know all the what-ifs and how to handle them?

Do you know how to attack not just defend?

Can you seize opportunities as they arise?

    Adapt to unexpected changes?

Are you considering all six ranges of combat?

Fighters who are bigger and more skillful?

    Weaponized?

    Multiple opponents?

Many traditional martial artists fall into this trap.

    Polishing, polishing, polishing.

    They overemphasize things like:

    • Breaking wood and bricks.
    • Repetitive forms.
    • Two-man forms.
    • Horse stance training and basic drills.
    • Historical reenactments.
    • Cultural rituals, such as lion dancing.
    • Mimicking the founder of a system instead of discovering themselves.

There’s only so much time in the day.

The body can only take so much.

It also needs time to recover and strengthen.

    You also have a life.

Are you focusing on the most important aspects?

Like strategy, tactics, and a comprehensive street fighting method?

    The 80-20 rule?

    Or other aspects?

These practitioners look great in their rehearsed routines, but are they mastering the art of domination and winning?

The art of chess with muscles?

Not just playing the game, but excelling at it—winning in three or four moves.

    Or fewer.

    Setting traps.

    Creating advantages.

    Avoiding disadvantages.

“To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting (to avoid the fight or fight without undue effort) is the acme of skill.”

    Sun Tzu

    PLAYING BY THE RULES?

MMA fighters and combat sport fighters understand strategy.

But their battlefield is a sport, confined by rules.

When there are no rules and your opponent fights differently, your rule based technology could be wiped out.

For instance, MMA fighters and Muay Thai fighters adopt a wide stance for greater power. This leaves their groin open to attack.

As another example, when someone is mounted it is illegal to grab the groin, poke them in the eyes, or bite.

Another example is you are fighting within a weight class.

You do not confront a larger opponent.

Or multiple opponents that nullify ground fighting.

    Or weapons.

No one is dying in the cage.

Combat sport opponents are usually still standing after minutes of fighting.

    On the streets, seconds count.

    Gangbangers

    TRAINING FOR REAL WORLD SCENARIOS?

The enemy might be bigger than you—300 pounds of steroid-fueled aggression.

    They might be more skilled.

    They might have friends.

    Weapons.

A car full of backup, armed with baseball bats.

    Knives.

    Guns.

If you’re alone, you can run.

If you’re with family or friends, you have to fight.

You need a strategy to win fast—and then disappear.

Or if you’re in your home, they break down the door, and three guys enter, you need to neutralize the threat.

Forget about calling the cops. You won’t have time for that, necessarilly.

And by the time they arrive, the deed is done.

Close-quarters combat leaves no room for flashy moves.

If you go to the ground and they have friends, you’re dead.

Then your family is at their mercy—facing torture, rape, worse.

    This is war.

And war isn’t just about winning—it’s about winning with ease, as Sun Tzu taught.

    How?

    By playing chess with muscles.

    Strategically and efficiently.

Strategy = You have the advantage. The enemy has the disadvantage.

We do this through interceptions, destructions, and a relentless offense.

Like Bruce Lee’s Five Ways of Attack.

If you wait for the enemy to strike first, you will be on the defensive. Act quickly and take the initiative.

In Wing Chun, the attack—for example, a well-placed eye jab—is called the Asking Hand.

It asks a question of the enemy.

    And they must answer.

    They might block.

    Step back.

    Counter.

    Shoot for a takedown.

    Rush in with punches.

    Kick.

And you already have the perfect response for every possible reaction or response.

One that keeps you in control.

One that is efficient—no wasted movement, no wasted time.

    Throwing Money

DON’T WASTE RESOURCES (TIME, ENERGY, MOTION).

In business, people throw money at problems, hoping they’ll go away.

    Sometimes it works.

Most of the time, it’s just wasted resources.

    That’s undue effort.

    That’s not supreme excellence.

    That’s not Sun Tzu.

    Same with combat.

You don’t just throw strikes and kicks hoping it will work.

You don’t just shoot in and take them down hoping it will work.

In chess, “hope chess” refers to making moves without thoroughly analyzing your opponent’s potential responses, especially checks, captures, and threats, and hoping you can handle them on your next move.

Hope works in the spiritual realm.

Hope doesn’t necessarily work in a physical fight.

    BE PREPARED.

“Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win. The general who wins a battle makes many calculations in his temple before the battle is fought. The general who loses a battle makes but few calculations.”

    – Sun Tzu

The analysis should have already taken place in the kwoon (training hall).

You should be prepared and already know what to do before the fight.

This should already be ingrained in your muscle memory.

There is no time to think.

The Mushin mindset takes over and the game plan happens instinctively, automatically, strategically, efficiently.

The RAT Synthesis Mind Range™ training enables this.

Like the fearless Samurai studied Zen to prepare their minds for battle.

They knew if the mind was correct they would win without fear or hesitation.

They knew if their mind was correct intuition would be their wise guide.

    In split seconds of time.

    Stillness is true power.

END IT QUICKLY OR RISK LOSING YOUR LIFE.

The longer a fight drags on, the more likely you are to lose.

The more chances they have to recover.

The more time for their buddies to join in.

The more time for them to pull a weapon.

    Seconds count.

“There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare.”The Art of War

BREAK THE RULES AND EVEN THE ODDS. WIN.

In RAT Synthesis, we don’t play by the rules.

RAT Synthesis is MMA for the streets and home invasions.

We do the things no one wants to talk about.

    We attack vital points.

    Eye jabs.

    Shin destructions.

Smashing their fists on our elbows.

    Groin kicks.

    Carotid sinus strikes.

    Ear slaps.

And throat strikes – if required.

    We break their balance.

    Their structure.

    Their will.

Pain neutralizes size and strength disparities.

Then, we apply pressure: Straight blast.

    Headbutt.

    Knee.

    Elbow.

    Terminate.

    Follow up.

    Finish.

    If necessary—coup de grâce.

    Then, we leave.

And once we’re safe, we meditate—to purge the PTSD, the adrenaline, the stress, the emotion.

We return to normal—because we’ve trained our minds to operate in that range. But the battle leaves residue. The subconscious needs clearing. Our meditation takes care of it, quickly.

    RAT Synthesis.

    No steroids required.

    No illegal weapons.

    We may pull a kubotan.

No flashy high kicks and routine.

Just strategy and lean functional muscles.

    You become the weapon.

    The Master Warrior.

You turn the hunter into the hunted.

Train RAT Synthesis twice a week or more, and you’ll develop real skill—efficient, adaptable, and deadly.

“To win any battle, you must fight as if you are already dead.” — Musashi

    CHOOSE.

If you want to play sports and get a trophy or a championship belt, go to a MMA gym.

If you want to mimic traditions, there are plenty of dojos for that.

But if you want to master warfare—the real art of life and death combat—come to me.

    You’ll reach peak fitness.

Master real world meditation and strategy.

Train the mind and the body for survival.

    Because martial arts is life.

    Its the art of winning.

    It is also spiritual training.

Like the fearless Samurai, who studied Zen and pursued transformation.

“The true science of martial arts means practicing them in such a way that they will be useful at any time, and teaching them in such a way that they will be useful in all things.” — Musashi

    Are you ready?

  • BEYOND FORMS, COUNTLESS ARTS, AND DRILLS: MASTERING THE ART OF ADAPTABILITY AND COMBAT STRATEGY

“If you follow the classical pattern, you are understanding the routine, the tradition, the shadow. You are not understanding yourself” – Bruce Lee

I’ve learned from both traditional and non-traditional methods, but I no longer do innumerable forms, horse stance training, or countless arts and drills like Sombrada, Chi Sao, and Hubud. While these methods have their merits, they don’t always translate to effective fighting and can become unnecessary overhead. They make you proficient in routines but don’t necessarily teach you how to dominate opponents and win.

Imagine a fighter pilot following rigid instructions in a fixed sequence—it wouldn’t work. Dogfighting demands adaptability, split-second decisions, and real-time strategy, just like sparring and fighting in martial arts. The same applies to life—if you’re overemphasizing rigid patterns and limited contexts, you won’t be ready to adapt and overcome when it matters most. Much less little to no strategy and just emphasizing flashy routines.

Traditional methods often overwhelm you with too much information, leading to confusion and inefficiency. Instead, RAT Synthesis focuses on 40 key techniques and a simple, comprehensive, and adaptable strategy—one that is dynamic, aligned with real-world combat, and covers all ranges of engagement, integrating proactive aggression as defense and a relentless offensive approach. We also target vital points and break the rules of dojo sparring and MMA ring fighting.

As Bruce Lee famously said, ‘Move like water, be still like a mirror, respond like an echo.’ That means having a relationship with an opponent that is not fixed or in a limited context. This philosophy captures the essence of RAT Synthesis.

I believe in getting in the water and swimming—dominating with strategies and tactics that actually work. This includes sparring drills that gradually expand in context until they evolve into full sparring. We also isolate to develop specific skills or techniques.

At RAT Synthesis, we train this way. We assign a student or teacher to play the ‘bad guy,’ using specific behaviors or techniques while the ‘good guy’ learns to defend or attack and overcome obstacles to achieve victory.

This method not only sharpens real-world application but also helps eliminate egotism where the ‘bad guy’ then starts going outside the drill, as one side is predetermined to lose.

Conclusion: The Path to True Mastery

Mastery isn’t about memorizing routines—it’s about embodying skill, strategy, and adaptability. Forms, endless arts and drills, and rigid traditions may build discipline, but they don’t guarantee victory in real combat or life’s challenges. True mastery comes from immersion, from stepping into the chaos, adapting in real time, and refining what actually works.

At RAT Synthesis, we break free from limitations and embrace the flow of real combat. We train to dominate through strategy, proactive defense, relentless offense, and the ability to adjust under pressure. Just as a fighter pilot doesn’t rely on static instructions but on instinct, intelligence, and skill, we cultivate the same approach in combat and life.

The choice is simple: overemphasize art and rigid traditions and hope they hold up—or evolve, adapt, and master the art of winning. The battlefield—whether in a fight or in life—favors those who can think, move, and strike with precision.

Be water. Be relentless. Be unstoppable. Win.
